As a reflection of our continued growth on the global market, we are hiring a Legal Manager (In-house Lawyer) to join our legal team. 
 
Unlimit’s Legal Department provides diversified inhouse legal services and proactive support across the group. The role involves designing, performing, managing and overseeing simple and complex legal and related tasks (including those subject to industry regulations and international aspects), legal routines/processes, projects, structuring, corporate and compliance matters in connection with Unlimit, related business interests in its jurisdictions of operation and those identified as new business opportunities. The role involves proactive interfacing with departments and C-level across the Group.

As Legal Manager, you will ensure comprehensive and ongoing in-house legal coverage and related compliance coverage of Unlimit’s business and related interests in all locations where we operate or plan to work in, as well as in all business sectors of our interests. Your role will involve effectively interfacing with all key stakeholders across the Group, managing tasks and processes in the Legal function. Your role will involve hands on assessment of legal and related requests, proposal and implementation of solutions, delivery of legal tasks. Your role requires the ability to effectively work as part of a multi-national business and multi-national legal team, strong analytical and decision-making skills, ability to handle legal function processes, effective and proactive handling and support of corporate matters, and work closely with key stakeholders, Directors and C-level (including operational and internal control functions) across the Group.

Reporting line: Group Head of Legal / Legal Operations

As part of the Legal team, the Legal Manager is expected to:

    • Provide ongoing legal coverage concerning Unlimit’s business (EU and wider global business) as part of Unlimit legal team
    • Research and provide actionable advice on legal and relevant regulatory and compliance matters in various jurisdictions and regions
    • Provide ongoing coverage for legal, compliance matters, business and operational purposes of various significance levels as well as provide support of the wider global business (EU and non-EU)
    • Identify applicable legal requirements and ensure that the businesses ensure compliance with them 
    • Design and prepare various legal presentations, practical analyses, opinions
    • Draft, prepare, review and negotiate internal documents such as policies, guidelines, frameworks, procedures, manuals, instructions etc. 
    • Design and handle in-house projects within the legal department, and cross-departmental projects (with operational, control function, financial, and business units). Monitor internal statuses, implementations, provide actionable solutions
    • Participate in and manage specialized matters involving banking and payment sector relations, regulations, technological elements, agreements, data protection, intellectual property (organizing, research, drafting and reviewing various legal documents, presentation of solutions to stakeholders and management etc.)
    • Handle participation and membership with local and international authorities - whether banking/payments/financial industry related or other competent authorities and bodies
    • Negotiate with third parties, communicate with authorities, facilitate our business, protect and defend our interests

Key responsibilities of the role involve:

    • Managing corporate matters (establishing, structuring, recording keeping, updating, performance of necessary filings etc.) in relation to our multinational corporate structure and legal entities
    • Handle/participate in various applications, registrations, licensing processes and their upkeep with various competent authorities, regulatory or otherwise
    • Establish and ensure effective collaboration with third parties and external service providers (such as professional service providers, secretaries, legal, financial or other advisors, banks and other institutions, counterparties)
    • Draft, prepare, review and negotiate various documents such as resolutions, agreements, applications, forms, appointments, questionnaires, letters, explanations, etc.
    • Participate or support stakeholders in industry audits, such as financial or operational audits
    • Advise on tax-related matters
    • Liaise with and assist other competent internal functions within Unlimit in the performance of their duties
    • Support of HR function, processes and employment matters
    • Manage legal matters and projects on key topics as part of the legal function, including in particular employment and staff matters (drafting and reviewing various legal documents, research etc.), legal research, guidance and advice to various functions of the company (operational and internal control functions), counterparty or client inquiries and disputes etc.  
    • Contractual review of a variety of agreements (professional consultants, advisors, technology providers, HR-related providers, day-to-day services providers including marketing, events and other agreements, various group agreements)
    • Contractual review and management of relations with banks, payment systems and payment networks
    • Plan, structure and implement projects, management systems, deals and collaborations 
    • Be comfortable with handling day to day routine legal work and urgent matters as the need arises (contract reviews, certifications, negotiations with counterparties)

Your experience

    • University degree in Law
    • At least 5 years of hand on legal experience, at EU level, with developed connections to outside EU/UK region in a multinational organization context
    • Practicing license in Cyprus could be an advantage
    • Practicing license or practical experience in relation to US/Germany could be an advantage
    • Excellent command of English. Russian is an asset. German could be an asset
    • Hands-on experience with corporate legal work (experience in dealing with international corporate structures and requirements)
    • Hands-on experience in employment law
    • Hands-on experience in tax law is an advantage
    • Hands-on experience in commercial legal work, with national and cross border contracts
    • Experience in EU and broader financial regulated sector is desired
    • Experience in a multinational banking/payments sector organization and/or consultancy firm with direct sector expertise
    • Knowledge of industry standards and (internal and external) auditing procedures
    • Very strong written and drafting skills

    • Highly organized, with ability to track and manage information, renewals and monitoring of various obligations, maintain records, manage external professional counterparties (such as professional and legal service providers and advisors)
    • Pragmatic with strong generalist skills. Legal experience in a multinational/global organization is preferred
    • Legal coverage of local and international projects (including ones that are subject to special regulations, requirements, structuring)
    • Able to deliver effective on-going monitoring, managing and support of projects, agreements and arrangements 
    • Able to work independently, as part of a team and as team lead for projects (including cross-jurisdictional and remote teams)
    • Excellent written, verbal, problem solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to present complex and ambiguous information in a clear manner, devising understandable steps and actions in a commercial setting
    • Excellent drafting & negotiation skills
    • Effective negotiation skills and ability to maintain effective relationships
    • Proactivity, adaptability and solution-oriented
    • Ability to prioritize and manage demanding workloads. Comfortable with changing requirements and priorities 
    • Confidence in decision-making and managing ambiguity
    • Comfort to perform both low and high level tasks
