What you will do at RECUR:
- The small stuff: Enhance existing processes and controls, support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, assist with the formal documentation of key accounting policies and processes related to revenue recognition
- The medium stuff: Lead automation and user acceptance testing of reporting coming from our platform to the Company’s ERP ledgers, ensure the Company’s revenue recognition and royalties accounting results are accurate and within compliance with our internal accounting policies, provide detailed revenue analysis to support FP&A, senior management, and other business partners.
- The big stuff: Provide business partnering and decision support on complex deals and new product launches, manage the order-to-cash processes including partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Legal teams to improve the execution of post-sales processes, including approval process, contract management, chargebacks, refunds, collections, and cash, review non-standard sales contracts for compliance with accounting rules and company policy to assist in structuring deals and contract terms and conditions
What you bring to RECUR:
- 8+ years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a minimum of 5+ years in a revenue accounting role at a high-growth startup
- Bachelor’s in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or related discipline
- An active CPA
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, primarily revenue recognition ASC 606, and ASC 340
- Experience with revenue system or ERP implementations or significant enhancement projects
- Attention to detail and experience multitasking and prioritizing to deliver impact in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research accounting literature and simplify complex situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels at the company
- SQL experience, strong excel skills
- Sage Intacct, or a similar ERP
Who you are:
- Champion; Proven ability to collaborate with business partners to build audit-ready revenue streams, deep exposure to electronic payment processing, working with PSPs, and have a solid understanding of a company’s order-to-cash cycle
- Technical; Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition in US GAAP, experience auditing, implementing, or operating in a highly regulatory environment, Experience in performing technical revenue research,
- Process-oriented; You build processes that anticipate mistakes and produce detailed process documentation, ability to read/write SQL queries is a big plus
- EXCEPTIONAL communication skills; you can succinctly relay what happened and why to a lay audience
