Who are you?
The Assistant Researcher works directly with the Director of Research to drive and execute our mixed methods research practice. You have experience managing research and a background in business, marketing, or academic research. You are capable of sensemaking diverse fields in order to create context, and are comfortable in ambiguity. You have the ability to draw out insights and themes from wide-ranging data sets and are able to create structure and operate independently. You have a nose for opportunity and are comfortable in the language of entrepreneurship: identifying customer problems and opportunities for technological disruption.
Responsibilities
- Execute exploratory research across a range of verticals, cataloging content, organizations and projects, potential advisors, competitors, events and narratives.
- Support the growth and management of a pipeline of qualitative interviews, hunting for new leads and coordinating communications and follow-up.
- Execute competitive and market analysis and the development of TAM/SAM/SOM metrics for venture opportunities.
- Support the development of a pipeline of relevant events for the DAO to attend, sponsor, or speak at based on our research.
- Support DAO-wide discussions and content creation processes around relevant opportunities, technologies, insights and niches.
Requirements
- Curiosity-driven, interested in Web3 and decentralization, hungry to learn and make an impact.
- Experience executing research, and some background in business, entrepreneurship, or venture.
- Excited to develop a deep understanding of verticals like energy, environment/climate, housing, finance and law as they relate to Web3 adoption.
- Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data in a holistic sensemaking framework.
- Skilled in knowledge management, comfortable with modern tools (Notion, Discord).
- Ability to act as a producer and project manager for interviews and other research functions.
Scope and Compensation
This is a part-time role, which we call an ‘atomic contributor’ at Decent. As with everyone at the DAO, you will be paid in USDC, a crypto stablecoin. We estimate this role to take around 20 hours per week, some weeks less and some weeks more.
Compensation:
$4,000-$5,000 USD per month, depending on experience.
