Job Description We’re on a mission to support a user-owned internet where users can own the value they create. The Stacks Foundation is a leader within the Stacks Ecosystem; a collection of independent entities, developers, and community members working to create a user-owned internet on Bitcoin.

We’re working to build a world class Web 3 nonprofit organization and we are looking for an experienced Chief of Staff to make that possible. They will support the continued growth of the thirteen person team and the wide range of programs we support.  This person will help us mature to the next level by supporting structure, team communication, and culture. The Chief of Staff will create internal systems to support hiring and operations, run team and board meetings, advise on high leverage strategic initiatives, and deliver on operational projects. 

From day one, the Chief of Staff will serve as a leader in the organization, working across all departments to build a strong organization and support the team’s long term success. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a business management role, with a special focus on executive-level advising, team communication, and cross-functional collaboration. 

What you’ll do - Build structure, increase clarity in communication, and support scaling our high performance culture - Oversee strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution in partnership with team leads - Build systematic team communication to support decision-making, program management, and new initiatives, including running weekly All Hands, quarterly offsites, and board meetings - Run HR operations, including overseeing the talent pipeline, complete state filings, HR policies, and onboarding new team members from offer to first 90 days - Review, design, and execute on improvements to organization structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them with existing or new hires - Improve current processes to make execution easier and speed outcomes for new initiatives

How you’ll do it - Serve as liaison between the team, regarding company culture, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning - Oversee the human resources department, including employment filing requirements, onboarding, and collaborating with hiring managers to set roles up for success - Run team operations through planning and coordinating weekly all hands meetings, establishing internal communications, creating regular strategic planning sessions or team off-sites, and complete any related administrative tasks for team success - Build and develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency of operations, and help to define new operational strategies, working with leads on special projects

What we’re looking for - Self directed, communicative, solution-oriented, and kind - 7+ years in a HR or business management role - Proven experience organizing and directing across multiple departments - Excellent communicator in written and verbal form - Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity - Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives - Experience with data analysis - Consulting or HR experience with a focus on operations management - Proven success in a project coordination role - Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions - Strong project reporting skills, with a focus on cross-functional communication - Use tools like Gusto, Lever, Notion, Google Docs, Dropbox, other HR/hiring tools
