About Paradigm
Paradigm is a San Francisco-based crypto investment firm with over $10 billion in assets under management.  We make investments in companies and protocols at all stages, ranging from early-stage venture financing rounds to growth equity to liquid token assets.

Paradigm was co-founded in 2018 by Matt Huang (former Partner at Sequoia Capital) and Fred Ehrsam (co-founder of Coinbase).  Crypto is unique among asset classes in terms of the pace of its development, and we believe that a deep understanding of blockchains and an ongoing commitment to technical excellence is critical to our success.

In the last four years, we’ve been hard at work building a world-class team to identify investment opportunities, contribute to crypto research and support our portfolio of 50+ investments. We also have a vested interest in the crypto ecosystem globally and a broader goal of accelerating crypto’s ability to advance the world we live in.  We believe that crypto will ultimately redefine money, finance, and the internet itself, and this technological revolution will have a fundamental and long-lasting impact on the global economy.

About the Role
As the premier VC firm in the crypto ecosystem, we’re at the center of a technological and media environment that’s changing extremely rapidly, and our teams are being pulled in several directions at once.  We’re adding executives and team members across the board to meet this need, and adding admin support in parallel to ensure smooth operations along the way.

We’re looking for a highly motivated Head of Administrative Operations to help our entire admin team operate in an efficient, controlled way as the industry continues to explode in growth around us. This person would be joining a high-performing, growing admin team of over ten which today serves as the air traffic control group that helps Paradigm build fruitful relationships with investors and crypto entrepreneurs, in addition to being guardians of Paradigm’s team culture.

We expect this person to have an extensive track record of managing complex tasks and relationships in a world-class professional environment.  Experience hiring, managing, and developing administrative talent is strongly preferred.  In addition to managing a team of talented staff, this person would take on various projects like onboarding & offboarding, publishing an employee handbook, and managing benefits.

Responsibilities

    • Lead recruiting and hiring for administrative roles across the firm.
    • Manage the administrative team, including team meetings, one-on-ones, performance reviews, and ongoing training and coaching.
    • Establish standards, processes, and playbooks for the administrative team.
    • Manage a variety of important but light-weight People Ops responsibilities – including onboarding and offboarding, publishing an employee handbook, and managing benefits.
    • Working cross-functionally and with other executive assistants
    • Performing an extensive array of core administrative tasks (e.g., preparing meeting materials, contributing to our internal database, chasing down signatures) and ad hoc special projects.
    • High degree of professionalism and exercising strong judgment and discretion with confidential information
    • Strategic and proactive management of complex and varying day-to-day schedules, using Google Calendar
    • Planning and executing both internal and external Paradigm meetings and events

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience directly supporting several executive leaders.
    • Experience managing, developing, and coaching a team is strongly preferred.
    • Experience recruiting and hiring world-class talent is strongly preferred.
    • Evidence of grit: the ability to adapt and overcome in rapidly changing situations
    • Excellent written and oral communication; diplomatic and professional demeanor at all times
    • Fluent in Google office platforms and Microsoft Office, with a proven ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize multiple stakeholders, functions, and tasks
    • High levels of integrity and discretion

Attributes

    • Exceptional team player; people-oriented
    • Extreme open-mindedness
    • Great listening skills
    • Clear and concise communication, in both 1:1 and public settings
    • Precise attention to detail
    • Empathy toward the concerns of others, both within and outside Paradigm
    • Adaptability in rapidly changing circumstances
    • Highly curious; fast learner
    • Interest in frontier technologies and crypto markets
