New Silver is a fintech startup that sits at the intersection of Decentralized Finance and real world assets. We build technology to originate and underwrite short term bridge loans with more efficiency, and securitize those loans on the blockchain with capital from DeFi protocols, helping to reduce costs and make securitizations more efficient.
We are the first real world asset in the world to be approved by MakerDAO, a top-3 stablecoin protocol. Our small and rapidly growing company is globally located and fully remote. New Silver’s mission is to enable entrepreneurial growth by providing real estate investors with fast, conveniently accessible capital, and by harnessing technology to improve investors' journey, from property search to sale.
YOUR ROLE
You will have a key role in our fast-paced organization. You will focus on underwriting, structuring and documenting short term bridge loans across the United States. You will use our proprietary technology to assess borrower, borrower entity and collateral credit risk, order and review appraisals and structure loans. You will also work with senior team members to conduct portfolio reviews, review underwriting guidelines and recommend credit and underwriting improvements. You will be responsible for making fast decisions, thinking “outside the box” and working within a fast-paced, evolving and exciting startup culture.

• Work with loan processors to obtain required documentation and complete the credit package for underwriting
• Order and review real estate appraisals
• Review and clear borrower entity docs, credit & background reports, liquidity, experience, and additional supporting docs as needed
• Review and clear exceptions
• Structure the loan and generate final loan terms
• Perform portfolio reviews and reporting to identify potential weaknesses and work to improve credit policies
• Draft and maintain underwriting and credit policies
• Stay on top of the real estate and general market news cycle in order to forecast potential market changes before they occur
• Use various technology tools in order to be efficient and compliant
• Communicate with borrowers, partners and 3rd party providers as needed

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years as mortgage underwriter
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate well on the phone and via email
• Knowledge or passion for real estate
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction, highly motivated
• Knowledge of Excel or other similar tools
• Ability to be flexibly, work well under pressure in a high pace environment
